With increased demand of doctors for increasing population, the West Bengal thought to make a medical college in district of Paschim Midnapur, in this respect the Midnapur Sadar Hospital was consider to be converted to Midnapur medical College with necessary extension, alteration and additional construction. Since 2003 with enormous effort of the Govt of W.B., the faculties, medical officers, the staffs of categories and the people of Midnapur, the first  batch of student were admitted in first year MBBS course, in August 2004, under the West Bengal University of Health Science, with the permission of Medical Council of India, New Delhi.
